Weekend, What Up!
The rain is supposed to go away this weekend here in Los Angeles, so you have no excuse to NOT get out to some of these excellent events from our Weekend, What Up!
Friday
- Santa Monica’s Last Friday is this week! Enjoy deals and extended hours at stores all along Main St. Don’t forget to drop in to Library Alehouse to take advantage of their free bike valet (and delicious beer and food).
Saturday
- L..A. Sake Festival at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel. $50 8 – 11 PM 1755 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles, 90028
- Get your fill of food trucks, music and raffle prizes at the NoHo Food Truck Festival. $4 online, $5 at event. 11 AM – 5 PM at 11458 Burbank Blvd. North Hollywood, 91601 (Next to Twin Palms Apartments, just west of Lankershim). A portion of the proceeds benefit doggies at Mutt Match L.A.
- The Bruery and Cigar City teamed up and gave birth to Marrón Acidifié, a dark sour beer. Taste the delicious baby with the creators at the release in San Francisco! 7 – 9 PM at Rosamunde’s Sausage Grill, 2832 Mission Street, San Francisco, 94110
- Try to follow some kind of mystery thing while drinking along Santa Monica’s Main Street at the Booze Clues Pub Crawl. $40 ticket gets you a beer at each location. Starts at 3:30 PM at World Cafe, 2820 Main St. Santa Monica 90405
- The Surfrider Mixer for West LA/Malibu chapter means people hanging out and drinking beer for a good cause while listening to live tunes. Suggested $10 donation. 6 – 11 PM at the Rider Shack, 13211 W. Washington Blvd. Los Angeles 90066
- Spring has sorta sprung, so go explore Poppy Day and native plants at the Theodore Payne Nursery, where they will be selling discounted plants and offering tunes, vendors, exhibits and more. 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM at 10459 Tuxford St. Sun Valley, 91352
- Check out the first ever Fresh Bruises March Badness art gallery event featuring tunes, booze, Grillem All and radical shirts created before your eyes. $5 presale, $10 at door. 9 PM – 2 AM at the KGB Warehouse, 1640 N. Sprint St. Los Angeles, 90012
- Dont forget it’s Earth Hour! Turn off the lights at 8:30 PM and drink in the dark. Just don’t do it alone, because that’s sad.
Sunday

All Weekend Long, My Babies
- The brains behind Second Glass are bringing WineRiot to L.A. for the first time. Learn all about vino by tasting hundreds of wines from all over the world. - Head up to Mammoth for the Roxy Chicken Jam where the best ladies compete in the powder for $50,000. Free La Roux concert on Saturday!
- Enjoy L.A. after the rain and get outside! LAMountains.com has a slew of guided hikes all over the county. Find one that’s fits your fancy, like the Wildflowers Galore hike at Towsley Canyon or show your support for Franklin Canyon’s Hastain Trail.
- Save some pups and kitties at the Pet Adoption Event for LA Animal Services with the Northeast Valley Animal Care Center. Sterilized, vaccinated and microchipped pets that are homeless are waiting for your open arms! 11 AM – 3 PM Saturday and Sunday at 15321 Brand Blvd. Mission Hills, 91345

- Railfest does indeed exist. Not only does it exist, it also promises “Frontier Gunfighters,” antique farm equipment and of course, the “Loose Caboose Garden Center”. You can also ride old-timey trains. Festival hours are 9 AM – 5 PM with train rides at various times (calm down, they have diesel AND steam trains).
