When people ask me, “How are you?” my automatic response is “good” … which is a complete lie. Majority of the time I am just “okay.” I don’t want to lie anymore. So next time when someone asks me how I am, I’ll reply with how I really feel, but am I ready to cross this social norm? Like not turning around in elevators after entering, not shaking Dwight Howard’s hand after losing to him in the 2009 Eastern Conference NBA Playoffs or stare a homeless person in the eye. I am just glad the weekend is here so maybe when you ask me this weekend “How are you?” I’ll say “good” and it won’t be a lie because we’ve compiled a list of things to do! More >

I didn’t mind if it was the last moment of my life. I was drowning in Nutella and peanut butter. I was finally happy – it was warm, sweet, and comfortable – nothing a man ever gave me. I was hoping to win the lottery and never return. Sadly, I am sitting here writing. I wasn’t even close. None of my numbers remotely matched any of the winning numbers. I must be the worst lotto-player in lotto-playing history. So instead of flying on a private jet to Buenos Aires, I’ll be drowning my sorrows at one of these events. The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel is Good Times Galore

The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel has got it going on. Director of Sales and Marketing Dan Shaughnessy shared with us all the new events they have developed for us youngins. Here’s the breakdown for my babies.
Lunch Specials Monday – Friday at Twist, 11 AM - 2PM – Chef Antonio has whipped up a new lunch specials menu, featuring $5, $7, and $9 plates or a three course lunch with an appetizer, entree and dessert for $14. Menu selections include the delicious “Taco Shimi”, Petit Seared Salmon, Swiss and Prosciutto Panino, and a whole lot of cakes.
Indie Thursdays in the Lobby Bar, 7:30 – 9:30 PM – Indie music artists perform on Thursdays to compete for a paid performance. June has a spectacular lineup of Indie Thursdays Artists of the Month performances with Karmina, Elyse and the Aftermath and Sean-Michelle. Appetizers, cocktails, no cover!
Sunday Jazz Brunch, 11 AM – 2 PM – KJAZZ and Twist Restaurant team up to bring together live jazz groups and a stellar brunch. Mimosas, Bubba Jackson, and Chef Antonio await you! $34.95 gets you the brunch buffet and bottomless champagne. This deal is top-notch — and there’s room to dance.
Sunday Standards with Luca Ellis in the Lobby Bar, 6 – 8 PM – Luca performs the best hits of Sinatra, Bobby Darin and other Rat Pack-era favorites every Sunday while you dine on delicious appetizers, entrees and hand-crafted signature cocktails.
These poolside events will kick-off starting June 17, accompanied by a pool menu by Wolfgang Puck.
- Thursdays 1 – 4 PM – California Dreamin’ – Listen to Live Acoustic Performances of Classic and Contemporary Hits
- Fridays 1 – 4 PM – Pizza Party – Relax and unwind with a poolside DJ spinning everyone’s favorite play lists
- Fridays 7:30 – 9:30 PM – Indie “Best Of Series” – Kick back to live, unplugged performances from some of the best 2009/2010 Indie Thursdays artists.
- Saturdays 1 – 4 PM – Grillin & Chillin – Enjoy the soothing sounds and cool rhythms of a live steel drum band playing all the island favorites
- Saturdays 8:30 -10:30 PM– Dive-In Movies –Spend an evening under the stars watching a Hollywood blockbuster poolside – “Avatar” kicks things off on June 19.
