Here's a toast to Mitch Steele, Head Brewer at Stone Brewing Co.

This weekend Stone Brewing Co. celebrated it’s 14th anniversary on the campus of California State University San Marcos. The celebration included a VIP Brewers’ Reception Friday night, a beer festival with two sessions and a rare beer section on Saturday, and plenty of entertaining moments from fellow drinkers that got a little bit tipsy.

Pancakes and Pours

Lost Abbey, a brewery that’s located in San Marcos and is a division of Pizza Port, opened its doors to the public for free breakfast before the festival’s first session. We loved saying, “What Up!” to new and old friends all day long. Thank goodness we got a couple pancakes in us before the drinking ensued. Speaking of drinking, Lost Abbey had Deliverance on tap for folks to preview. Deliverance is a dark and powerful brew, made from a blend of bourbon barrel-aged Serpent’s Stout and brandy barrel-aged Angel’s Share. Deliverance will be officially released on August 28.

Beer + Cheese + Buddies

Many thanks to Lost Abbey for feeding us and thanks to all the wonderful breweries that shared their art with the thirsty masses at Stone Brewing Co.’s 14th Anniversary. After hanging around The Bruery and Maui Brewing Co.‘s tents, we finished off the fest by filling our taster glasses with Mike’s Beer Cheese, the oh-so-delicious soft cheese made with Stone Brewing Co.’s beer by their very own Art Director, Mike Palmer.

It only made sense to stop by Stone’s Brewery in Escondido for a snack, tour and (you guessed it) more beer. If you didn’t make it out this year, check it out next time. Happy Birthday Stone! Cheers!
