Silver Lake Jubilee is Jubilant [PHOTOS]
Having a Good Time!
The Silver Lake Jubilee filled Myra Avenue in Silver Lake, California over the weekend bringing tons of local bands and over 30 delicious food trucks including India Jones, our friends Fresh Fries LA, and The Greasy Wiener. Two beer gardens poured Firestone Walker beers while booths from local vendors and artists filled the street.
You Don’t Know Jack, Yet
We spoke to Jack Martinez, Executive Director, about how the festival came to be. When Silver Lake decided the city needed to host a community street festival, Jack made a proposal for the event. Having experience in the banking, event, and construction industries, he was a natural fit to make the festival possible. He recruited a team of Silver Lake locals to research and recommend the bands that included The Growlers, Wet & Reckless, and The Like, who practiced at El Cid and Spaceland in the days leading up to the festival.
The Silver Lake Jubilee will be back next year, becoming an annual event benefiting non-profits such as 826LA and the Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic, while giving the neighborhood a tasty and musical good time. Funded by the Los Angeles Arts & Athletics Alliance (LAAAA) the festival seeks to “bridge cultural diversity and enrich lives.” Sounds like a great way to do good — one beer garden at a time.
