Noble Ale Works Brewery Tasting Room Opens In Anaheim, Minutes From Ducks, Angels
Noble Ale Works opened its doors last weekend in Anaheim, California. Located just 0.7 miles from the Honda Center, and 1.1 miles from Angel Stadium, Noble will provide Orange County sports fans a place to get their hands on craft beer before heading to the games!
Behind the Works
Long before opening Noble Ale Works, owner Jerry Kolbly worked as a bartender at Rusty Pelican in Newport Beach, CA. In 1995 he began working at the Newport Beach Brewing Co. and eventually became the general manager. He’s been in the restaurant business for as long as he can remember.
When he first started behind the bar he had no idea what beer was. He recalled an interview with the Orange County Register years ago,”They asked me about Coronas and I told them that it was just marketing. There were much better beers out there.”
And the Beers?
Noble Ale Works currently has four different beers available on tap and in bottles, including a red, pale, IPA, and a Black IPA/Cascadian Dark Ale. Noble will be expanding to six beers soon, including a Double IPA. When we asked Jerry if he’s the kind of person to experiment, he explained, “That’s how the Dark Sybian IPA came about.” Jerry and team did a small test batch and liked how it turned out, so they decided to make a bigger batch. “It didn’t get the reviews we wanted at GABF but the general response was great. We may hop it up a little bit for the next batch.”
Jerry also has plans for a sour and a barrel aged beer. “Barrel aged beers are my favorite, because you get a different flavor from each barrel.”
Welcome to the Tasting Room
While owner Jerry Kolbly and team continue building their brewery and snazzing up their tasting toom, you can stop by for four different kind of brews or to pick up a bottle for six bucks. The hours are still being worked out but Jerry told us they’ll plan to open four to five days a week between 4 PM – 9 PM during the week and 12 PM – 9 PM during the weekend. They also plan to have food trucks like Kogi BBQ and Taco Dawg.
This weekend they will be open Saturday at noon and Sunday at 10 AM and they will be featuring Tustin Brewing Bourbon O.E. (Olde English), their English Barleywine that was aged 14 months in Bourbon Barrels. Check their Twitter for the latest updates.
