new belguim belgian style blond aleSanta Monica’s Library Alehouse features a sustainable beer every Tuesday in April, culminating in their Sustainable Works sponsorship day on April 27th. On Tuesday, Dallas the Beer Ranger from New Belgium came to visit. He assured we were one of the first few people to taste the Belgian Style Blond Ale in Los Angeles. I felt special like the first time I was picked in sports. New Belgium opened their first LA kegs of Belgian Style Blond Ale and Eric’s Ale from their Lips of Faith beer series and we savored it all.

Eric’s Ale Showed Up But Eric Didn’t
The regulars at the Alehouse seemed to love Eric’s Ale. It’s a beer with sour taste that boasts probiotic bacteria, also known as the good bacteria, which is great since I am tired of all that bad bacteria like E. coli. The beer is a combination of older and newer beer with peach juice, so I can really taste those “undertones of peachy awesome.” The beer is aged in oak barrels that were used for aging wine from the Bonny Doon winery. With an ABV of 8.5%, the Belgian Style Blond Ale combines hop aroma and the flavoring of bananas, making it hard for anyone to put New Belgium in the corner.

We salute you Beer Ranger Dallas. See you guys at the OC Beerfest.
