L.A.’s Newest Food Truck Heirloom-LA Already Wants to Expand
Heirloom-LA officially launched last month and their lasagna cupcakes are the talk of the town. After only a few weeks on the road, Chef Matthew Poley tells us they want to conquer Los Angeles with more food and another set of wheels.
The food truck is a spin-off of from the successful Heirloom-LA catering company. Their specialty is pasta and you might develop a lasagna obsession like Garfield after trying their signature lasagna cupcakes. Some people say the food truck revolution is slowing down, but Heirloom-LA is proof that food trucks are as hot as ever.
We Need More Trucks!
Matthew says the greatest challenge he has faced is “only having one food truck.” He adds, “We want to be in a lot of different places.” Currently, the truck can be found at Silverlake Wine on Mondays for dinner, the Yamashiro Farmers’ Market on Thursdays for dinner and outside Bar Covell on Sundays for brunch.
“We would totally get another truck,” Matthew tells us. “I see us having a couple more trucks. I’d love to have one that just goes out on the street.” Besides the dinner schedule, the truck currently goes to movie sets, photo shoots and catering events.
Seasons Change and So Does the Menu
This truck isn’t a one trick pony, the menu changes seasonally. The lasagna cupcakes aren’t going anywhere but one week might be tacos, BBQ or brunch dishes. Matthew currently can’t get enough of the chicken and waffles, “I love the way that is looks and tastes. It is a Vanilla Belgium Waffle and Fried Buttermilk Jidori Chicken with a blueberry maple glaze and crème fraiche.” Matthew says it’s good for breakfast, dinner or dessert. Right now the menu also has peanut butter and jelly, baby beet salad and braised brisket.
