The awards were given out to the best of the best at Great American Beer Festival in Denver this afternoon. It was a dream come true for L.A.-based Eagle Rock Brewery as they took home Gold for the Pro-Am Competition. “It feels incredible. I don’t even know what to feel right now,” said Jeremy Raub, owner of Eagle Rock Brewery.

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner

The Pro-Am Competition winners at the Great American Beer Festival are selected based on award-winning homebrew recipes from the American Homebrewers’ Association members. Eagle Rock submitted the Red Velvet beer, an Imperial Red Ale style with rye, a recipe by AHA member Donny Hummel. Jeremy said with excitement, “I never even expected any kind of medal so this is totally beyond my wildest dreams.” Eagle Rock Brewery has been open and brewing for only 9 months.

Party Time!

When we asked how the team will celebrate, Jeremy replied, “I don’t know but it’s going be epic. We’re definitely going celebrate with Donny because I’m proud of him. He’s home right now. We are going to have a big party. It’s his recipe.” Eagle Rock Brewery was represented by Steve and Jeremy Raub, the father and son owner/brewer team, Jeremy’s wife and business manager Ting Su, and brewer Patrick Morse.

Once the team gets home, Jeremy plans to brew the winning beer again in time for LA Beer Week. This win for Eagle Rock Brewery is definitely a win for L.A.’s craft beer culture.
