Museum of Lone Pine Film History is Full of Yeehaw and Sparkles [PHOTOS]
Lots of people head to Mammoth Mountain when the snow starts to dump, and if you’ve been on the 395 yourself you know the drive is full of teeny towns and speed-traps. One of those teeny towns has a hidden gem worth checking out, especially if you are into sparkly cowboy pantsuits and colorful film posters that are twice your height.
The museum began as an outgrowth of the annual Lone Pine Film Festival. It’s run by a local Board of Directors and made possible by monetary and exhibit donations from Mr. Jim Rogers, a philanthropist and businessman who enthusiastically attended the festival six years ago. The museum celebrates the film history of Death Valley, the Eastern Sierras and Lone Pine, whose Alabama Hills were used in many western films.
