After hanging ten, park your board at the door and grab some grub at Hot’s Kitchen in Hermosa Beach, dude. The food and drinks at Chef Sean Chaney’s newest restaurant are tubular, just like the incredible oceanside location.

A Surfer’s Gotta Eat

Hot’s Kitchen opened in February and sits right off the Pacific, catering to the surfer community. They take on quintessential “surfer” food — fish tacos — with the Spicy Tuna taco and Hamachi taco. The idea for the Spicy Tuna taco came to Chef Sean when he was at a sushi bar about 9 years ago. It’s topped with noki mushrooms, seaweed salad and sesame seeds and sits on a small white corn tortilla specially made for Hot’s. In addition to the fish tacos, there are over 50 other kinds of tacos like the Tofu Curry, Alligator and Kobe. The menu also includes a Burrata Heirloom Tomato salad with roasted beets, toasted almond, olive oil and sea salt, their Mexicali burger with roasted poblano peppers, corn-jalapeno mayo, fried onion rings and oaxaca cheese and the Homemade Chili Lime Shoestring Fries. Do we have you rushing to your car to head down to Hermosa Beach yet? It gets better.

The Brews, Brah

Hot’s has 36 carefully selected brews on tap including craft beers like Dogfish Head Aprihop, Anderson Valley Oatmeal Stout and New Belgium Dunkel Weiss. Now, you’re running to grab your car keys! Hot’s only serves draft beers to reduce waste produced by bottled beers. However, they do serve wine by the glass and the bottle. The vast menu includes Chardonnays from Napa Valley and Sonoma as well as a Torrontes from Argentina and a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc.

The establishment is eco-friendly — each dining room chair is made from 111 recycled plastic bottles, the bar was made with reclaimed wood from Pennsylvania and Hot’s has even partnered with the Surfrider Foundation to give back. Surf’s up!
