tony yanow new craft beer brewery in los angelesToday in Atwater Village, Tony Yanow, Meg Gill and Jon Carpenter invited dedicated beer writers and supporters to an small press conference to discuss and tour Tony’s new, giant, massively-massive brewery, said to open September/October.

Meg has worked with Speakeasy Brewing and Oskar Blues while Jon works at Dogfish Head as the assistant brewmaster (until July, that is, when he will be relocating back to Southern California). The equipment for the brewery should be arriving in the coming weeks.

Nurturing a Local Beer Culture

The brewhouse, tasting room, offices and party-hearty space takes up three giant warehouses along W. San Fernando Blvd, right by the train tracks that divide the city of Los Angeles and the city of Glendale.

The brewery has already purchased a canning line which will be used to can their artisanal beers (awesome). They have yet to share specific beer styles to be brewed, but they will ideally have three flagship beers flowing regularly.

Yanow and Gill explained Wisconsin’s New Glarus Brewing Company has served as a model operation for Golden Road Brewing. New Glarus Brewmaster Dan Carey and Golden Road’s Jon Carpenter both attended UC Davis to study brewing and have worked at Anheuser-Busch Brewing Co. Both breweries are passionate about nurturing a local beer culture by brewing the best beer possible for local supporters.

Carpenter, a Southern California native, is excited to move back to the state come July. He has no shortage of enthusiasm towards being part of the Golden Road Brewing Team. “There’s so much right that’s going on between these guys,” said Carpetner, referring to Yanow and Gill. “There’s so much invested not just financially, but personally.”
