The Saban Free Clinic has been serving Los Angeles for over 40 years providing medical care for the people that needed it the most. They are throwing a “Extravaganza for the Senses” food and wine event to raise money. Yummy restaurants like Susan Feniger’s STREET, Chaya and more will be at the Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood on July 16. We interviewed Special Event Manager Lenna Poulatian about this tasty event!

Drink Eat Travel: What a fun event! How did you come to choose the restaurants that are appearing at the event?
Lenna Poulatian: We are lucky that many of the restaurants that have come to the event in the past come back year after year. We do a lot of research on new restaurants in the area and reach out to restaurants that we think our guests will enjoy. Also, we always try to have a variety of cuisines and different kinds of foods (both casual and upscale establishments) so that our guests can try different things.

What restaurants are you looking forward to try?
LP: Unfortunately since I am so busy working at the event, I don’t get an opportunity to eat much. That being said, I am very excited that Susan Feniger’s STREET, Jar and Angelini Osteria are back this year. Their food is always delicious. We also have some great new restaurants that I hope to be able to sample, including Michael’s Restaurant, Oliverio and Huarache Azteca which was listed as one of Jonathan Gold’s 99 Essential Restaurants of 2010.

How about the wine?
LP: We are in gratitude to Bill Knight of The Wine House for the great selection of wineries we have this year. Since the event’s inception Bill has partnered with us to bring in some of the best wineries in California. This year I am really excited about Domaine Carneros, Frescobaldi, Piper-Heidsieck, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Iron Horse, Kendall-Jackson and more.

Tell us a little bit about The Saban Free Clinic and how you got involved with it.
LP: Founded in 1967, The Saban Free Clinic (formerly The Los Angeles Free Clinic), is a five-facility non-profit agency that provides quality health care, dental care and social services to the most vulnerable members of our community. This year the Clinic will provide more than 90,000 free patient visits to Los Angeles residents who have nowhere else to turn. I have been with the Clinic for almost four years and am proud to work for an organization that provides vital services to the community.
