First off, I owe you all an apology. Not only for the ineptitude of the writing that you are about to read, but for the fact that I have not subjugated your eyes and brains to said subpar musings in several week. If it makes you feel any better, I was recharging my beerteries (that’s beer batteries) at the Great American Beer Festival. Furthermore, it allowed me to pick up not only a wicked cold and hoarse voice (a Mitzvah for those that know me), but also the bottle of beer that I am reviewing herein. Here we are. Another week. Another [delicious] beer. This week, it’s Hitachino Nest Beer XH (Extra High) – a strong ale aged in sake casks.Truth is, I’ve been drinking my weight (keep in mind, I’ve lost a fair amount of weight of late, so this is less beer than it might otherwise be) in Kern River Pumpkin and Beer Valley Fresh Hop Black Flag. Tonight … Yes, I drink at night. Not exclusively, but when I am doing reviews, I find it helpful to have reruns of “Millionaire Matchmaker” in the background. You know what sucks about that show? Well, everything. How the eff hard is it to find a broad who’s looking for a desperate millionaire? Oh my god, a broad who’s open to dating a rich dude who’s willing to advertise his riches as a way to snag dames? Well, that must be as rare as a leprechaun or Whoopi Goldberg fan? I mean, where would one even start to find one of these elusive creatures in a down to Earth town like Beverly Hills? Further proof this is Satan’s most diabolical creation since David Hasselhoff? My wife hates it. This is a woman who watches all the “Real Housewives”, “Jersey Shore”, and thinks I’m worth marrying. Her standards aren’t what one would call refined. Well, even though August seems a tad early and the whole country is still suffering from record heat, let’s all get on the fall train. Ahhh, fall. Summer’s sweltering heat turns into the cool breeze and beautiful changing colors of autumn’s call. Or, you live in California, things get even hotter, and other parts of the country scoff, for they have something we don’t- seasons. Jace’s Drink This: Jason Fields & Kevin Sheppard, Tröegs, Stone Cherry Chocolate Stout

More importantly, a big thanks goes to Stone Brewing Co. for being innovative. Not only do they distribute a number of craft beer companies, they also team up with other breweries and occasionally homebrewers for their Stone Collaborations. The beer in question is “Cherry Chocolate Stout,” a team effort between Tröegs, Stone and homebrew contest winners, Jason Fields and Kevin Sheppard. The description reads, “Ale brewed with cherry, chocolate and vanilla beans.” More >
