Boneyard Bistro and The Bruery’s 12 Course Meal: Beer Highlighted Dinner with Patrick Rue & Aaron Robins

We wrote about the epic 12 course beer and food pairing that was held at Boneyard Bistro about a couple weeks ago and were on scene for the event. Chef/owner of Boneyard Bistro, Aaron Robins, and brewer/owner Patrick Rue of The Bruery put on a dinner whose focus was on beer. No special theme was featured, instead, Chef Aaron directed his creativity towards the flavor profiles in pairing Patrick’s beers, creating a marathon whose emphasis was on good eats. In Aaron’s words, “we’re going balls to the wall. We’re going bigger than pretty much anyone we can think of.” More >

The 3rd Annual Beer Float Showdown, presented by FoodGPS.com, where five chefs are paired with five California breweries to create an original beer float wrapped up today. The judges were prominent beer and ice cream aficionados; the attendees. The competition included Chef Ilan Hall of The Gorbals and “Top Chef” with Tustin Brewery Brewmaster and Smog City Brewing Co. brewer/owner Jonathan Porter, Chef CJ Jacobson of The Yard and “Top Chef” with Firestone Walker Rep Jace Milstead, Chef Laurent Quenioux of Vertical Wine Bistro and LQ@SK with Beachwood BBQ and Brewing Brewmaster Julian Shrago, Chefs Andre Guerrero, Jan Purdy of The Oinkster and Maximiliano with Eagle Rock Brewery Brewmaster Jeremy Raub and Chef Thi Tran and Nguyen Tran of Starry Kitchen with Ladyface Ale Companie Brewmaster Dave Griffiths and owner Cyrena Nouzille. Margaritaville Las Vegas Now Open for Business with the World’s Largest Margarita!

There are over 100 casinos in Las Vegas, but as of this weekend, there’s only one casino that holds the record for the World’s Largest Margarita! The Margaritaville Casino at Flamingo officially opened on Friday with a two-story 8,500 gallon margarita called “Lucky Rita.” We talked to the woman behind “Lucky Rita”, Tamara Baldanza — the Director of Marketing for Margaritaville. Deconstructed LA: Introducing Firestone Walker Brewing Co.’s Newest Anniversary Beer with Matt Brynildson & Sean Z. Paxton

Paso Robles, CA’s Firestone Walker Brewing Co. debuted their latest anniversary beer, XV, on October 12th. To kick off the brew, an eight course pairing held at the Avalon’s Bardot Room in Hollywood was conceived by “Homebrew Chef” Sean Z. Paxton with the theme of deconstruction. The intent was to take the eight beers that comprise Matt Brynildson’s blend, XV, and pair them with foods to bring out their intricacies. Ultimately, the goal was to better understand and appreciate the anniversary beer that will be available for purchase at the their brewery on November 5, and to Firestone Walker vendors shortly after. LA Beer Week officially kicked off last night at Naja’s Place in Redondo Beach, CA with a Stone Brewery Co. tap take over. About 50 different Stone beers were poured alongside catering by Stone Catering, serving BBQ duck and vegetarian tacos. A brewery started five years ago by Eric and Rebecca Giddens and Brewmaster Kyle Smith. Recently at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, the team took home a gold medal for their Citra Double IPA beer (Imperial IPA category).
