Properly dissecting a beer float

Picture 1 of 18

It’s funny to watch people eat beer floats. On Sunday Food GPS hosted Beer Float Showdown II at Verdugo Bar. There were many great floats, but only one could win! The winner was Boneyard Bistro of Studio city, with their concoction made with Floris Apple beer and Bourbon-salted caramel and cinnamon ice cream from Drunken Udder garnished with green apple and caramel crumble.

Other contestants included Simmzy’s from Manhattan Beach with their very popular ‘Cherry Pie’ float with brown sugar and cherry ice cream, Brouwerij Verhaeghe-Vichte Kreikenbier and a Snicker Doodle cookie; Ladyface Ale House and Brasserie of Agoura with their own Weizenbock Seasonal Oktoberfest and their house-made ‘Intoxicated Cherry and Caillbault’ chocolate ice cream topped with house-made beer brittle; and Tony’s Darts Away of Burbank with their all organic and vegan “Lime Surprise” made with Eel River Brewing Co.’s Acai Berry Wheat beer and lime sherbet.

This isn’t the last of the LA Beer Week fun — it’s only just begun. Check out all the other great LA Beer Week events and get yourself some brews.
