Drink Eat Travel threw a bash for the Los Angeles Fire Department Museum in Hollywood on Wednesday to raise money for the museum — and have a good time! The food and drinks were tasty but the most impressive sight was the incredible balloon installation. Three balloon artists created a firefighter fighting an angry blaze along side a gigantic fire truck.

Those are Balloons?!

Balloon artists Addi Somekh, Katie Laibstain and Brian Asman built a scene out of balloons that blew the party guests away! Katie created a fire that arched over a door way, Brian built the life-sized fireman in action and Addi put together the fire truck that was over 14 feet long. A fog machine created a “smokey” fog around the fire and the truck even included bright headlights. The entire installation took about 24 hours to build. Addi also surprised the crowd by playing a balloon bass with his band Unpopable Trio.

Drinking, Eating, Traveling and Prizes

Guests enjoyed Chipotle tacos and multiple beers from Firestone Walker including Solace, Velvet Merkin, DBA, Union Jack and Pale 31. There was also a chocolate tasting from The Chocolate Traveler, chips from Popchips and endless cups o’ joe from Don Francisco’s Coffee Family Reserve. The night also included a jammed-packed raffle with prizes from Luxor Las Vegas, Renaissance Hotel Hollywood, Boneyard Bistro, Hugo’s Restaurant, Down and Derby, Hollywood Improv, Outdoor Cinema Food Fest, Alma de Agave tequila, Landmark Theatres, Fireman’s Brew and more.

Mission Accomplished!

The night was truly a success. The museum volunteers Frank, Bill, Walt and Joe even had a good time! Over 100 people showed up to help raise over $1,000! The proceeds will help support the museum, which currently receives no government funding.
